New JJIF General Secretary - January 2004 |
| |
| |
Dear JJIF National Presidents and Colleagues,
In my capacity as the JJIF (Ju Jitsu International Federation) president I have received an email dated January 22, 2004 from the JJIF general secretary Frank Furst (Copenhagen, Denmark), in which he communicates his immediate resignation from his present position in the JJIF Directing Committee. Mr Furst is leaving us after serving as general secretary for 18 years, during which he significantly has contributed to the JJIF development. It is with sorrow and regret I accept his resignation, which is a decision entirely taken by himself and based on private reasons.
Hereby I take the opportunity to extend our sincere thanks to Frank, both my personal thanks as well as the thanks from the JJIF Board and its Committees! I am sure that I also can include the appreciation from all our member nations, with which the general secretary has had frequent and extensive contacts.
In order not to have any larger administrative and organisational problems, the JJIF-DC has in its Presidential Board meeting at Paris on 25th January 2004 appointed Mrs Benedicte Rouby (Paris, France) as general secretary until the next election of general secretary. You can find a short CV for Mrs Benedicte Rouby attached to this email letter.
Mrs Rouby will have the total support from the French Federation (FFJJDA), which will help with secretarial service free of charge for the JJIF. We also note, that JJIF now has got the first woman as board member in line with the IOC principles of an extended women representation in the international sport management and sport world.
We wish Benedicte heartily welcome and all luck in her new position, and we are sure, that this will give the JJIF a new and very competent board member as well as a new management perspective to the benefit for our total development.
For administrative matters from now on, please contact the new (coopted) JJIF general secretary under the address:
JJIF General Secretary Mrs Benedicte Rouby

Telephone (administrative secretary Mrs Sandrine Goss)

New JJIF Board - April 2003 |
| |
|
| |
April 19, Lubjana (SLO) – JJIF Congress met last weekend in Slovenia for the annual General Assembly of the Ju-Jitsu International Federation.
One of the priority issues regarded the renovation of the Board of Directors with elections for three (out of a total of five) offices. The new Board for the forthcoming four-year mandate is now composed as follows:
| President |
Paul Hoglund (SWE) |
since April 19, 2003 |
| 1st Vice-President |
Heinz Lamade (GER) |
since April 20, 2002 |
| 2nd Vice-President |
Luis Baguena (ESP) |
since April 19, 2003 |
| Treasurer |
Luc Cassier (BEL) |
since April 19, 2003 |
| General Secretary |
Frank Furst (DEN) |
since April 20, 2002 |
|
Former JJIF Treasurer Paul Hoglund thus succeeds to Rinaldo Orlandi (ITA).
Dr Orlandi has been at the head of Ju-Jitsu’s official governing body worldwide for the last 26 years (re-elected consecutively six times since the year of its foundation). The General Assembly, therefore, appointed the outgoing JJIF President Dr Orlandi as "JJIF Honorary Founding President" by acclamation in recognition of the immense contribution and thrust given to Ju-Jitsu at world level. Rinaldo Orlandi was one of the three founders of JJIF (formerly known as EJJF and then IJJF) in 1977. Under his presidency the JJIF later received GAISF Member status in 1993, IWGA Member status in 1994 and applied for IOC recognition in 1999. In 2001 Rinaldo Orlandi was elected Member of the seven-man Executive Board of the IWGA bringing Ju-Jitsu closer to the heart of first-class world Sport, where he will continue to contribute in his duty.
His successor, Paul Hoglund, has also played an active role in Ju-Jitsu’s growth. He too was one of the Founders of the original Ju-Jitsu Federation, where he has served as Treasurer since JJIF’s foundation. In his personal experience Dr Hoglund boasts close relationships with Karate (Founder of the World Union of Karatedo Organisations, now World Karate Federation), Wushu (Member of the Executive Committee of the International Wushu Federation) and the IWGA (he was one of the founders in 1980). In his programme for JJIF Paul Hoglund aims to increase the independency of Continental Organisations, to form Regional Sport Development Centres for Ju-Jitsu, to seek new contacts with other existing Ju-Jitsu Organisations worldwide and to create stronger contacts with Japan for Historical and Ethical Development.

Comments from the Goldmedal winners of WG Akita
| - 69 kg Men Fighting |

I am very happy to have won, following my previous victory in the competition for the European Championship.
This gold medal is especially significant for me because Japan is Ju-jitsu's country of origin.

The final was a tough match. But thanks to the support of my coach and staff, I was able to win. I guess a divine wind was blowing. I'm not a pro. I play Ju-Jitsu not for the gold medal but because I love this sport. I am convinced that playing this sport is a noble thing.
(Didier Cezar) August 20, 2001 |
| - 85 kg Men Fighting |
|
 |
Ever since I came to Japan, last year, I wanted to win in this World Games.
Since this was my last game, I am really happy that I was able to win in my last match.
I am also happy to win in a discipline which has long been won by French athletes.
(Rob Haans) August 20, 2001 |
| - 94 kg Men Fighting |
|
 |
My victory in this match is a revenge because I came in the second place in the European Championship last year due to the referee's misjudgement. I am especially happy to defeat the Spanish athlete who defeated me at that time.

I did not expect to win as I have not done enough practicing.
I used to play Judo before, and I am so happy to win Ju-Jitsu in Japan because Japan is a birth place for Judo and
Ju-Jitsu.

As Kamal said, this game was a revenge match for the defeat in the Combat at the European Championship. There was a long time of not being able to win the game although I wanted to win so badly. So I'm very happy to win today.
This gold Medal is especially significant for me because Japan is the country of origin for Jujutsu.

Duo Mix
|
|
 |
We are tired but very happy. We are satisfied to have won in the Mix Duo in the World Games.
We think judges highly evaluated our speed and sharpness in technique and powerful fist technique.
We believe that Ju-Jitsu is the only perfect martial art that includes all the decisive techniques such as fist,
throws, choking techniques.
